What We Do
Amplify Life hosts programs for people of all ages with special needs.
Programs range from outdoor residential camps allowing participants to experience the adventure of the great outdoors, transitional camps to get students thinking about life after high school, over-night programs designed to create one-of-a-kind social and educational opportunities for campers, and afternoon and evening social enrichment programs where campers enjoy time with friends.
Our programming melds a progressive curriculum with an exciting recreational environment to inspire participants to increase their independence, develop meaningful relationships, improve their physical health, and expand their quality of life.
Programs benefit any child, teen, or adult with an intellectual, developmental, learning, communication, and/or emotional disability. Diagnoses may include but are not limited to: Asperger’s syndrome, autism, down syndrome, attention deficit/hyperactivity, processing disorders, bipolar disorder, depression, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, and various intellectual disabilities.
Who We Serve
Our programs benefit any child, teen, or adult with an intellectual, developmental, learning, communication, and/or emotional disability. Diagnoses may include but are not limited to: Asperger’s syndrome, autism, down syndrome, attention deficit/hyperactivity, processing disorders, bipolar disorder, depression, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, and various intellectual disabilities.
Participants are 7 years old to 70+ years young. Fun and adventure is a rite-of-passage, and for this reason, we never age people out of our programs.
Families and caregivers benefit through valuable respite. Short term, temporary care provided to individuals with disabilities can help prevent abuse and neglect, while supporting the family. Our programs allow families and caregivers to take a break from the daily routine of care giving, to focus on their own emotional and physical welfare.
Each year we recruit and train dozens of people who share our core values. Our counselors go through a rigorous training process that includes CPR and first aide certification. We perform criminal background checks and drug test everyone we employ. We have a strong retention rate among counselors who return season after season to work with us.
Education of our staff is paramount to our culture. We create influencers who go out into their schools and communities and educate others about people with special needs through their experience.
Maintaining a 1:4 counselor to camper ratio ensures we can adequately manage the needs of all entrusted to our care.
Fee schedules vary by program. We take special care to keep registration costs affordable. We achieve this in part by subsidizing 100 percent of participants and absorbing a portion of the costs associated with running programs.
Scholarships are available to families who qualify for financial assistance and meet the income guidelines. We are also approved vendors with many regional centers who may assist with the cost of program registration or respite.
